Thirty years. Thirty Pikachu cards. And one very well-timed weekend for Huddersfield collectors.

On Wednesday 16 September 2026, Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration launches simultaneously around the world — and for Yorkshire collectors, the timing could hardly be better.

The Pokémon Company says every 30th Celebration booster contains five foil cards plus one foil Basic Energy. Better still for collectors, every pack contains one of 30 different Pikachu illustrations.

Yes. Thirty.

Somewhere, a completionist has just felt their wallet twitch.

Why 30th Celebration is a genuine collector event

This isn’t simply another expansion arriving on shelves. Pokémon has built the release around the history of the TCG itself, combining new illustration rares, returning classic cards and a sizeable anniversary product range.

That guarantee gives the set an immediate collecting hook. Opening a pack isn’t merely about pulling the strongest card — collectors can attempt to build an entire 30-card Pikachu run.

Pokémon has also revealed special products including the Binder Collection, Poster Collection, Elite Trainer Box and Sylveon ex and Greninja ex boxes, with further anniversary releases following later in the year.

Thirty years of Pokémon cards

Pokémon confirmed earlier this year that the Trading Card Game is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026. What began as a card game tied to a rapidly growing Japanese video-game phenomenon became one of the most recognisable collecting hobbies in the world.

For many collectors, Pokémon cards now occupy several worlds at once: they’re a game, a childhood memory, a display piece, convention currency and — occasionally — a surprisingly valuable little rectangle of cardboard.

That crossover is exactly why Pokémon has become such a permanent fixture at comic-cons and card shows.

And Huddersfield gets the perfect follow-up

Just three days after the worldwide launch, collectors will be gathering at Huddersfield Card Show on Saturday 19 September at the Accu Stadium.

That makes Saturday one of the first opportunities locally for collectors to compare pulls, see which of the 30 Pikachu designs are already becoming favourites and potentially start trading duplicates while the expansion is still brand new.

And that is where this gets particularly interesting for ASACC.

Which Pikachu will Huddersfield chase?

Online predictions are one thing. A room full of actual collectors is another.

So at Huddersfield Card Show, we’re going to keep an eye on what is actually happening with 30th Celebration: which cards traders are displaying, which Pikachu illustrations collectors are asking about and which pulls people are most excited to show off.

That should give us something better than another internet price prediction: a snapshot of what real collectors in Huddersfield actually want.
