MIMESIS ‘Off the Rails’ Update Makes Its AI Impostor Even Harder to Trust
MIMESIS has celebrated its first Early Access anniversary by making its central question—“which teammate is real?”—even more difficult to answer. KRAFTON and ReLU Games released the free Off the Rails update on 27 October 2026, expanding the four-player co-op horror game with a new Paranoia system, upgraded imitation behaviour and a film-studio map.
Paranoia gives every player a different version of the room
Contamination can now change what an individual player sees and hears. One member of the group may spot a Mimesis that is invisible to everyone else, or hear voices their teammates cannot. That makes communication essential—but no longer automatically reliable.
The AI-controlled Mimesis has also been tuned to observe habits and respond more naturally to its surroundings. Because it copies appearances, movement, behaviour and voices in real time, the update is designed to make its impersonations less predictable rather than simply tougher in combat.
A film set built for things to go wrong
The new film-studio map begins with the crew’s tram crash-landing somewhere it was never meant to go. KRAFTON says its indoor and outdoor spaces connect more seamlessly than earlier locations. New monsters, Scrap, Service Stations, equipment and traps broaden the survival options, while an interface overhaul aims to make the game easier to read under pressure.
Anniversary rewards and a limited Steam discount
Players can generate a personalised Survival Report and claim a commemorative anniversary skin. KRAFTON also confirmed a 60% discount during Steam Scream V from 27 October to 3 November 2026. The publisher says MIMESIS passed two million copies sold worldwide in June and received a CEDEC Awards 2026 Excellence Award for game design.
