Pokémon TCG Pocket Slows Booster Packs to Six Weeks as Dual-Type Cards Arrive

Pokémon TCG Pocket is changing the pace of its digital card game. A new series planned for the end of October 2026 will introduce dual-type Pokémon and move new booster packs from an approximately four-week cycle to roughly every six weeks.

The change was confirmed in an official Producer Letter published on 16 October. The operations team said player feedback showed that the number of cards released through the B series had made collecting difficult. The longer cycle is intended to give players more time to build collections before another booster arrives.

What changes in the new Pokémon TCG Pocket series?

The slower pack schedule is only part of the update. Pokémon’s development outline includes several planned collecting, battling and trading features:

  • Dual-type Pokémon will make their debut in the new series.
  • Immersive Cards will be obtainable through collection-completion missions as well as booster packs.
  • Special Pack: First Partners will feature the first partner Pokémon from the nine regions represented across the video-game series. It will use separate stamina that recovers once a week.
  • Community Decks will let players browse popular and friend-created decks, then copy them using cards they own.
  • Rental decks are planned to become available as soon as each booster launches, with unlimited uses and access in versus battles.
  • Limited Battle Events will introduce restricted card pools and rewards based on wins.

Why collectors may welcome the slower schedule

For players trying to complete sets without heavy spending, an extra two weeks between major booster releases could reduce the pressure to chase every card immediately. The trade-off is that each set remains in the spotlight for longer, so events and missions will need to provide enough variety between releases.

The planned trading improvements should also make swaps easier. Players will be able to see cards missing from a trade partner’s card dex and identify cards appearing on a sharing partner’s wishlist.

When does the update arrive?

Pokémon has given an end-of-October window rather than an exact launch date. The Producer Letter also stresses that these features remain in development, meaning details and timing may change.
