Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles #1 Cover Revealed for Historic Crossover

Two of pop culture’s biggest universes are finally meeting on the page. Penguin Random House Comics Retail has revealed the main cover and firm retailer details for Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles #1, the opening chapter of the first official crossover between Lucasfilm’s galaxy and Marvel’s Earth-616.

What has now been confirmed

The five-issue limited series is written by Kevin Smith and drawn by David Marquez. Its reality-breaking premise sends the events of A New Hope spilling into Earth-616, putting Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Chewbacca alongside the Avengers and Spider-Man. On the other side of the conflict, Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire find a formidable Marvel ally in Doctor Doom.

Cover A, also by Marquez, brings the villains to the foreground and gives collectors the first proper look at the crossover’s tone. Eight additional variant covers are planned, although their art has not yet been revealed.

Release date and collector details

Hope Assembles #1 is scheduled for 13 January 2027. The 40-page first issue has a US cover price of $5.99, with a retailer final-order cut-off of 23 November 2026. UK availability and pricing will depend on individual comic shops and distributors, so collectors should confirm local ordering arrangements rather than treating the US details as universal.

The project is timed for the 50th anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope. Marvel published the original Star Wars comic in 1977, making this new crossover a particularly neat full-circle moment—but the story itself is new, not a reprint or adaptation.

Why this one matters

Licensed crossovers are often announced long before the details collectors actually need. This update adds the cover, on-sale date, issue length, number of variants and retailer deadline, making it the point at which pull-list decisions become practical.
