The truth is heading back to television: Ryan Coogler’s reimagining of The X-Files has officially been picked up to series. The Hulu Original will stream on Disney+ in the UK, with Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel leading the cast.

A new pair of FBI agents

Rather than recasting Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, the new series follows two highly decorated but sharply different FBI agents who form an unlikely partnership after being assigned to a long-shuttered division investigating unexplained phenomena.

That premise preserves the essential engine of the original programme — scepticism, belief and the institutional unease surrounding impossible cases — while leaving room for new characters and a different era of conspiracies.

Coogler writes and directs the pilot

Ryan Coogler wrote, directed and executive produced the pilot. He remains an executive producer on the series alongside showrunner Jennifer Yale. Original X-Files creator Chris Carter is also among the executive producers, providing a direct creative link to the 1993 series.

Deadwyler and Patel serve as co-executive producers as well as starring. Proximity Media co-founder Ludwig Göransson contributed the pilot’s score.

What has not been announced

Disney’s UK announcement confirms the series order, leads and creative team, but does not give a premiere date, episode count or production timetable. It also does not announce appearances by Gillian Anderson or David Duchovny. Any claims beyond the confirmed information should therefore be treated as speculation.

Why this matters to collectors

A new series normally brings renewed attention to vintage trading cards, comics, action figures, magazines and home-video editions. Collectors should distinguish genuine first-era merchandise from later reproductions, check condition carefully and avoid buying solely on the assumption that a reboot will raise values.
