The Blue Road Trailer Pairs Son Suk-ku and Eita Nagayama in Netflix’s Cross-Border Crime Thriller

Netflix has released the main trailer and key art for The Blue Road, a new hardboiled crime series led by Son Suk-ku and Eita Nagayama. The series premieres globally on 20 November 2026.

Two detectives, one cross-border case

Son plays Kim Seok, a detective with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, while Nagayama plays Tokyo Metropolitan Police detective Inose. Their uneasy partnership begins after a body is found with grotesquely contorted limbs and cryptic messages point towards a case spanning national borders.

The story is set against the 2002 Korea–Japan World Cup. Netflix’s newly released key art mirrors the premise: Japanese street signs appear behind Kim Seok, while Korean signs surround Inose.

What the main trailer reveals

The trailer opens with the abduction of a young girl inside an abandoned building, before the investigation draws in a Zainichi Korean businesswoman, a figure from Japan’s criminal underworld and a government agent. Netflix also promises action moving through snow-covered Central Asia and Hong Kong’s Kowloon Walled City.

Director Han Jun-hee leads the series. The ensemble includes Kim Shin-rock as Li Yoon-ok, Jung Jae-young as Seo Hyun-tae and Choi Sung-eun as Yoon Soo-kyung.

Why it is one to watch

The hook is not simply the killer. It is the clash between two detectives who do not trust each other, forced to work across language, culture and jurisdiction while the case keeps widening. For crime-thriller fans, that makes The Blue Road one of Netflix’s most intriguing November arrivals.
